Beta Alpha Psi (BAP)

This national accounting honor society is used by the SOA to sponsor supporting professional activities. Many SOA students take advantage of these opportunities both as officers and participants. The officers involve themselves with practitioners and business representatives on a more personal basis and gain worthwhile practical experience. This fraternity offers an opportunity for accounting students to attend weekly lectures by outstanding speakers on subjects which are relevant to todayıs accountant and business leader. Most of the speakers are practicing accountants. These meetings also give the members opportunity to converse with accounting professionals. Through BAP, accounting students participate in activities to help them become familiar with their chosen profession, as well as meet many accounting professionals. These activities include Meet the Firms Night, Career Day, visits to CPA offices and clients, and various open houses sponsored by firms recruiting SOA graduates. BAP also schedules activities which allow fellow accounting students to get to know one another.

Pledges and members of BAP must meet the requirements and expectations of the organization including GPA, attendance at technical meetings, and service hours. Among the service opportunities available are tutoring in the Accounting Lab and participating in the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
